SoundOff Signal is synonymous with innovation in the emergency lighting market, and its ingenuity has made it a reliable force for more than 25 years. Established in 1992 by founder George Boerigter, SoundOff Signal has, from the outset, focused on producing clever and effective lighting products for police, fire and emergency vehicles. For about a decade, that was the company’s only priority, but since 2002, it has provided enhanced lighting to school bus fleets as well, improving visibility and bus safety, as a result. Now, SoundOff Signal is a major provider of lighting products worldwide, with partners in Europe, Asia, Mexico and South America. That's a meteoric rise for a company founded as a small startup.

The company has a lot to be proud of. For one, it has achieved the much-coveted ISO 9001 certification, which is only given to manufacturers that demonstrate high-quality production processes. It is also affiliated with an impressive number of associations, including the National Fire Protection Association, American Traffic Safety Services Association, Automotive Industry Action Group, American Society of Quality and Transportation Safety Equipment Institute, among many others. SoundOff Signal adheres to the REACH Initiative, which is a European regulation demanding that manufacturers notify their customers of the presence of any Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) that exceed .1 percent of weight in their products. In this instance, SVHCs refer to extremely toxic or environmentally taxing substances. SoundOff Signal is REACH compliant and therefore a consumer and environmental champion.
Finally, SoundOff Signal is an employee-owned company, with employees receiving an ownership interest in the business. It’s an extra touch that speaks to the company’s confidence in its people and processes. That confidence is warranted, as SoundOff Signal has experienced uninterrupted sales growth every year since its founding.
But what really makes SoundOff Signal an impressive figure in the industry is its history of clever, why-didn’t-I-think-of-that innovations. Its first was motorcycle turn signals that would beep once activated, ensuring the motorcyclist remembered to deactivate the signal. This was designed in response to accident reports linking improper turn signal usage to the crash.
Perhaps its most famous innovation was the introduction of a heavy-duty flasher installed in the headlight area of emergency vehicles. This lent modularity to the vehicle's lighting and made it clear to other motorists when an emergency vehicle was approaching from the front. This technology, now known as "wig-wag" lighting, has been adopted by virtually every emergency lighting manufacturer in the world; SoundOff Signal was there first.
SoundOff Signal's Product Offerings
Lighting, lighting, lighting. That is what SoundOff Signal specializes in, and it builds it in a number of form factors. Some of those options include:
1.Lightbars-Most emergency vehicle lighting manufacturers have a lightbar to offer, and SoundOff Signal is no different. In fact, it has several lightbars in its catalog, but the nFORCE LED Lightbar is considered to be its flagship model.
According to SoundOff Signal, the nFORCE is the first tri-color capable lightbar on the market, though it is also available in single color or dual color options, on both the inboard modules and corner modules. With multi-color modules and white LEDs combined, the nFORCE can put out brilliant light that gets immediate attention. Every nFORCE comes standard with six LED takedowns and three LED alley lights, and takedown modules can be designated anywhere on the nFORCE.
Like any modern lightbar, the nFORCE comes with companion software that allows fleet managers to easily program the bar and configure it precisely. Some of those configurable options include cruise mode, 32 programmable flash patterns, nighttime manual dimming, front/rear/corner cutoff inputs and steady burn.
2. Other lighting products- SoundOff Signal has much more to offer on the lighting front. Its LED traffic controller products, for example, can be designed for interior or exterior use, and are also available in a single color, dual color or tri-color LED configuration. Any modules that utilize white LEDs can be employed for takedowns, work lights or floodlights. And SoundOff Signal traffic controllers come with a cruise mode and manual dimming for enhanced nighttime use.
SoundOff Signal manufactures a number of smaller lighting builds, as well. Its mpower line of fascia lighting can be installed nearly anywhere on the vehicle and blend in with the vehicle’s aesthetic without issue. It also provides dual and tri-color capability and is built for maximum durability and visibility. SoundOff Signal achieves the latter with its collaboration with Dow Corning, which has developed ClearDuty optics for mPower designs. The ClearDuty one-piece housing mold provides a durability advantage over standard polycarbonate lens designs and offers excellent resistance to scratching, cracking and gravel pitting, as well as water intrusion and UV stability.
Efficient and effective beacons are also available through SoundOff Signal, including its nROADS product model. The nROADS is made in two models – a low dome with four modules and a high dome with eight modules. It is available in single, dual and tri-color models and is built with an offset dual stack that includes eight total modules and allows for 360-degree lighting coverage. It can be paired with a permanent mount, a magnetic mount or 1-inch pipe mounts. The nROADS is ideal for both emergency and work lighting, especially when the beacon is built with all-white LEDs.
SoundOff Signal is a leader in lighting, with innovations so ingenious that they have been taken up by everyone else in the field. That fact, along with its proven design and manufacturing processes and its 25 years of experience in the industry should make it clear – SoundOff Signal is a first choice for emergency fleets around the world.
